Bruce West , Principal

Bruce has 25 years of senior pharmaceutical management experience in all phases of product commercialization in the ethical pharmaceutical market. His experience includes leading the global Cholesterol Reducer franchise for Merck as the Global VP of Marketing for over 6 years. In addition, Bruce has managed multiple products in the U.S. market, spanning numerous therapeutic categories. In his final assignment at Merck, Bruce was responsible for promotional medical education, the medical liaison organization, and advocacy development for the U.S. market. Since departing Merck in 2001, Bruce has been the founder of and launched two successful businesses serving the pharma industry: one business is devoted to tracking and evaluating promotional speaker programs and individual speaker performance, and the other is focused on the comprehensive, objective and accurate identification of opinion leaders at all levels in the marketplace.

Michael Petro,
SVP, Marketing Strategy and Network Analytics

Mike is a marketing and sales strategist with over 25 years of varied field sales management and marketing strategy leadership experience. The majority of Mike's career was spent at Merck & Co., Inc., where he led cardiovascular and osteoporosis marketing franchises in the U.S. market. In addition, Mike also has an extensive background in managing, leading and developing organizational processes for Medical Science Liaisons. Most recently, Mike served as the General Manager of Merck's global initiative to leverage social network research as a core component of the company's commercialization strategy. In this capacity, Mike spearheaded numerous efforts to apply, validate and quantify the utility of social network data in commercial settings around the globe.

Shilpa Briggs
Managing Director, West Coast

Shilpa is a senior commercial leader with 20 years of experience in business strategy, product launch, strategic marketing and business development in the pharmaceutical/biotech and consumer products industry. She has a proven track record in early stage development, including indication planning and phase2/3 clinical trial design, growing small under-resourced brands as well as large blockbusters. Her experience includes launching and growing brands such as Augmentin, Avodart and Tysabri. She is a dynamic change agent and innovator who enjoys working closely with senior management to grow the bottom line. She has a strong and varied experience base having worked for GlaxoSmithKline, Bristol Meyer’s Squibb and Elan Pharmaceutical, proactively leading cross-functionally between commercial and medical interests. Shilpa has successfully founded her own strategic advisory services business in the San Francisco Bay area and has worked with several Life science companies including: Kai Pharmaceuticals, Arbor Vita Corporation and Camunio Therapeutics with specific emphasis on the importance of network marketing and creating value. She joins Rivermark, LLC as the Managing Director of the firm’s West Coast business.

Bruce R. Lesser
Senior Business Strategist, Director of Development

After obtaining a Masters Degree in Biology, Bruce joined Merck as a field-based sales representative in the Greater Chicago Area. In the 35+ years that have ensued, he has accumulated a wealth of pharmaceutical experience with Merck and Gilead Sciences. Bruce has held management positions in sales, marketing and medical affairs, launching over 25 new products in many major therapeutic areas. As a senior manager, Bruce gained experience in strategic and tactical planning utilizing both traditional and forward-looking approaches to the business. Throughout his career, Bruce has had a particular focus in Thought Leader identification, planning and development. He has directly and indirectly been involved with the start-up, expansion and downsizing of several organizations. These experiences have developed Bruce into a proven leader in change management, where he has developed relevant metrics and managed a wide range of compliance related issues. Bruce is now headquartered in Rivermark's California office in San Francisco.

Christine Aber,
Director, Sociometric Research Analysis

Christine has extensive experience in analyzing and interpreting social network data using various visualization techniques across a multitude of specialties and disease states. Christine has over 11 years of data analysis and software development experience in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily on the agency side. Prior to her work with Rivermark, Christine was involved in the development and implementation of online and offline health and disease management programs.
